Introduction to Community Television

Students learn about the wide range of production opportunities available at Town Square Television. This class covers channel and equipment use, provides an overview of Public Access and includes a complete tour of the Town Square Television facility. This is a 1-hour class.

Class Fee: Free

Prerequisite: None (this is a prerequisite for all other classes)

Digital Field Production

Students learn how to operate the DV15 Digital Video Camera.

Studio Production Certification

Students learn how to operate the studio cameras, audio board, video switcher, character generator, and other equipment in our studio. Certification in the studio will require completion of both the Introduction to Community Television Class and the Studio Production Class. Observation of a Town Square Television studio production is optional. Each class is a 2-hour class.

Non-Linear Editing Certification

Using Final Cut Pro and other compatible softwares, students will learn the editing techniques as detailed below. Certification requires completion of Non-Linear Editing Classes 1 and 2. Non-Linear Editing Classes 3 and 4 are optional.

Non-Linear Editing 1

Class Fee: $30.00

Description:

  • Log and Capture
  • Apply transitions
  • Adjust pan and audio levels
  • Additional editing techniques

Class Length: 2 Hours

Non-Linear Editing 2

Class Fee: $30.00

Description:

  • Color Correction � Adjust color and white balance of video clips
  • Speed � Adjust speed in video clips
  • Wireframe and Keyframe video
  • Keyframe Audio
  • Voiceover Tool � Add a voiceover to a video project
  • Compression using MPEG StreamClip � Compress movie files for web-streaming

Class Length: 2 Hours

Non-Linear Editing 3

Class Fee: $30.00

Description:

  • LiveType � Add interesting and professional graphics to a program
  • iDVD � Create a professional DVD menu using iDVD templates

Class Length: 2 Hours

  • Non-Linear Editing 1
  • Non-Linear Editing 2

Non-Linear Editing 4

Class Fee: $30.00

Description:

  • Motion � Add motion to graphics and video
  • Soundtrack Pro � Create music beds using Soundtrack Pro�s electronic audio library � no instruments needed
  • Multi-Clip Editing � Efficiently edit programs that were shot using multiple cameras

Class Length: 2 Hours

  • Non-Linear Editing 2

Truck Production Certification

Students learn how to operate the on-location cameras, audio board, video switcher, character generator, and other equipment used for on-location productions. Certification for the production truck will require completion of both the Introduction to Community Television Class and the Truck Production Class. Observation of a Town Square Television truck production is optional. Note: The production truck is available for community-based event productions, and is generally not available for series programming. Use of the production truck is at the discretion of Town Square Television’s Executive Director. A Production Proposal Form will need to be completed and approved at least two weeks prior to the date of production
